No one can live on HK$40 a day
Sep 12th, 2025 | Advocacy | Comment
Forty dollars a day is all refugees in Hong Kong receive for food. For over a decade, this allowance has stayed the same, while the cost of living has soared. We are mothers, fathers and children who fled danger to seek safety here, but we are not allowed to work. Every meal, every roof over our heads, depends on the kindness of people like you.
Your gift can change this reality. Every dollar you give goes directly to putting food on the table, keeping the lights on, and ensuring children can get to school. HK$200 feeds a family for a week. HK$500 helps with children’s costs for a month. HK$800 helps with rent in subdivided rooms. With your help, we can make sure no refugee in Hong Kong is left hungry, homeless or without hope.
The Refugee Union is Hong Kong’s only refugee‑led society, founded in 2014 to protect the rights and dignity of our community. We are run by refugees, for refugees — which means we understand the needs first‑hand. Our community centre’s rent is already covered by long‑time supporters, so every dollar you give goes directly to families in need. Donations are received through our trusted partner charity, Drink For Justice, ensuring full transparency and accountability.
From all of us at the Refugee Union — thank you! Your generosity is more than a donation; it’s a lifeline. Every meal shared, every child who gets to school, every family who sleeps under a safe roof is possible because of you. We are proud to be a refugee‑led community, and your solidarity reminds us that we are not alone. Please continue to stand with us by sharing this campaign with your friends and family — together, we can keep hope alive.

Stay blessed 😇

Mahjong Funday

Reimagined was beyond delighted to host our first Mahjong Funday with Refugee Union. Serving those in need has always been our passion, and we love using shared interests—like mahjong—to connect with others. This event brought together players from different backgrounds, creating moments of joy and camaraderie. Despite the heavy rain, we were thrilled to share our love for the game and bring some lighthearted entertainment to the participants. It was a heartwarming experience, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact through something we truly enjoy.
